Ctenophores

Ctenophores or Comb jellies are solitary and pelagic animals. Their transparent body is reminiscent of jellyfish but they are not stinging. To feed themselves, they catch food thanks to adhesive cells, the colloblasts. They have up to 8 rows of luminescent, comb-like hair plates along the body that allow them to move around. (hence their name, from the Greek ctenos = comb).
